Teachers' Code of Conduct
- Do role calls in the morning, after break and before students end the day.
- Do not allow students to wander around during class. Be aware of their absence.
- No food or drinks in the study room.
- Teacher is not sitting at his/her desk but is actively handling students who need help.
- Never invalidate a student.
- The teacher should stay in good affinity, reality and communication with the students at all times while they are performing their duties.
- The teacher at all times must have a high tolerance for all their students’ ignorance and carelessness and the teacher must be willing to repeat any lesson that is not understood as many times as necessary for the student to understand and acquire understanding of that information.
- The teacher does not discuss or talk about his/her personal problems to the students.
- The teacher will, at all times, be the source of good control and direction to his/her students.
- All homework assignments must be checked accurately and marked without delay. Constructive remarks area welcome.
- The teacher must be able to correlate any part of the material being taught to real life.
- The teacher should be able to answer any and all questions. If a teacher does not have an answer to a question, the teacher should always say so, and the teacher should always find the answer to the question from the source and tell the student where the answer was found.
- The teacher should never lie to, deceive or misdirect a student. The teacher shall be honest at all times with a student.
- The teacher should always set a good example to the students: such as giving good demonstrations, being on time, dressing neatly and not using the phone during class hours.
- The teacher shall never use the students for his/her own personal gains.
- The teacher should never neglect to give praise to his/her students when due.
- The teacher should be able to take the viewpoint of the student as well as his own, regarding the Teacher-Student relationship.
- The teacher will be a stable communication point. Point the way to information. Be certain but not dogmatic or dictatorial.
- Keep the classroom clean before you end the day. Get the students to: Organize all books and materials back in its space. Clean white board. Empty trash bins. Clean tables. Tuck in chairs and switch off all lights. You must be the last person to leave the classroom closing the door behind you.
- Unattended children make undue noise. Attend to all the children in your own creative way so that each child is learning and achieving the purpose of the day.
- That you route any student who claims to be sick – to the receptionist. You do not give the student any kind of medication or handle the body in any way other than showing care and concern and routing the student to reception.
